CMS stands for “Content Management System” and this site incorporates an open source CMS called Nucleus CMS. A CMS allows you to easily update and organize content by using a database and server-side programming. Nucleus is mainly designed for blogging but can be customized and extended a good bit. I’ve used Nucleus for the past year to run our baby blog and I’m using it for this blog as well.
This page is the only page in the site that uses Nucleus for content. I created my own stripped down Nucleus skin so that it can easily be embedded into my site template. This blog is not the center piece of this site so I have left out most of the Nucleus features and focus only on the blog posts themselves and the RSS feed. If you head over to our baby blog you can see Nucleus being used to its full potential.
