Last Sunday our church went to Pinellas Hope to provide and serve a meal to the homeless in our community. Pinellas Hope is a great organization that lets them set up tents in a secure spot and provides them with evening meals, showers, TVs, rehab/training, and programs.

I put this video slideshow together to thank those that volunteered and motivate those that didn’t to participate in church events in the future.

From a technical & artsy point-of-view the video is pretty ho-hum. Except… I experimented with a technique I’ve been wanting to try for some time. In a few of the slow zoom-ins, I separated the image into three depth layers: foreground, focal point, and background. As I zoom in, I move each layer at a different speed and slowly move the foreground and background horizontally towards the center. It adds a nice subtle effect that almost makes the image seem 3D-ish. The first one is at 31 seconds into the video.
