When you think of bull fighting and bull runs you most often think of Spain. However, all along the southern coast of France these events have been held for centuries. Back in the day before cattle trucks, bulls were herded from the pastures to the arenas down the main streets of the villages. In order to pull this off safely, the bulls were herded by a dozen or so men on horseback.

Today trucks herd the bulls to the arenas, but the tradition of horsemen running the animals through town continues as an event known as “abrivado”.
