We spent the tail end of our vacation in Columbia, South Carolina. It was Congaree National Park that brought us there.

Before visiting the national park we spent an evening walking through one of the city’s great riverwalk parks along the Congaree River (which leads down to the park named after it). The river was quite swollen and dangerous looking with water levels reaching the paved trail at points. I was quite intrigued by the juxtaposition of urban decay and the natural environment along the river banks.
